Phil Collins won’t be well enough to perform at his upcoming Rock Hall induction for his solo work, but, hello, he must be going to get revenge against Noel Gallagher, who in the ’90s declared he wanted “the severed head of Phil Collins in my fridge by the end of this decade.” Gallagher, who also declared Mr. Sussudio to be “the antichrist of music,” is part of the Rock Hall’s 2026 class for Oasis. Collins sees the humor of their inevitable meeting at the ceremony, though, telling Mojo that he still plans to be involved in all aspects besides a performance. “The inductees have all been invited to a lunch before the ceremony,” he said. “Which will be interesting, as I’m sure to bump into Oasis.” Collins’s theory for Gallagher’s tirade goes all the way back to the lead track off 1983’s Genesis; you know, the banger before “That’s All” and “Home by the Sea.” “Now I’ve thought this through and although Noel didn’t specify what song it was, I reckon it was ‘Mama,’ where I go ‘ha-ha-ha … oww’ with the light under my face,” he explained. “I think ‘Mama’ is why Noel called me the antichrist. But I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt here, and assuming he doesn’t really think I’m the antichrist.” Collins even admitted that his daughter, Lily Collins, sought answers several years ago from Noel’s equally tempered brother, Liam: “She went up to him and said, ‘Why do you hate my dad?’ And apparently Liam said, ‘I don’t hate anybody, love.’” Great, we hope this means the bruvs will take on “Against All Odds” on his behalf.
