Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photographic contest organized by Wikimedia community to document cultures in different regions of the world. Wiki Loves Folklore is continuation of Commons:Wiki Loves Love 2019 project with the theme of folk culture. The basic aim of the competition is to collect photos of human cultural diversity to illustrate articles in the worldwide free encyclopedia Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects. The photos provided must match the theme, although the contest is not limited to any official list of protected areas, which means that most users will be able to find several pertaining subjects close to theme, whether festivals, dances, cuisine, clothing or daily life routine emphasizing on folk culture of that area.
Scope
This photography contest is focused on folk culture of different regions on categories, such as, but not limited to, folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, folklore, and tradition, including ballads, folktales, fairy tales, legends, traditional song and dance, folk plays, games, seasonal events, calendar customs, folk arts, folk religion, mythology etc. You can check out some other suggestions and examples in our Category page.
What we won't accept
- We won't accept media that are:
- Out of Commons Project scope.
- Which lack EXIF information.
- That are excessive processed and digitally altered.
- Pornographic and explicit images.

Take photos
Take as many and as good photos as you can, try different angles. Even if the photo doesn't win you a prize, it may help Wikipedia!
Upload to Commons
Upload your images to Wikimedia Commons between 1 February and 31 March. Create an account, if you don't have one already.
Describe your images
Describe what you photographed in the image description and captions. Record the place's name, description, and date of photo.Prizes
