Add topicWhere to translate the links?
[edit]Why should we suggest a new translation, rather than directly translating it on translatewiki.net, similarly to how the rest of the interface works? Also, it’s hard to suggest a better translation if we don’t know what the current one is. (Ideally, the best possible translation is created before the change rolls out.)
You also say that you’ll rename existing links. How will you do that without speaking all the 350+ languages Wikipedia has? Wouldn’t it be better if you asked communities to change the links themselves? (Of course, if communities are irresponsive, you’ll need to do something, but maybe removing the link is a better solution than trying to write in languages you don’t speak. Over the years, I’ve encountered a number of translations in Hungarian by non-Hungarian-speaking people that were well-intended but were spanning from grammatically incorrect to incomprehensible.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 09:35, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Tacsipacsi you can directly translate on translatewiki.net, but please let us know when you do. Secondly, to know what the current translation is, visit the footer of your wiki (only useful if we have deployed) or please check this list.
- With regards to renaming existing links, we are approaching the rollouts in phases to enable us engage before we deploy. We are aware that not all wikis require this renaming, and where they do, we speak with the community on how best this can be done, as renaming also sometimes means creating new pages or other similar solutions. –– STei (WMF) (talk) 14:38, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
What the heavens is going on
[edit]It sounds like you want to add an English language page to the, in this case, Frisian wikipedia, but I have no idea why. Obviously, a page in the Frisian wikipedia would have to be in Frisian, but nobody seems to talk about that: Just about adding a page? Mysha (talk) 11:57, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
- Wie soll man hier sinnvoll diskutieren, wenn alles auf En glisch ist? Ralf Roletschek (talk) 13:12, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Mysha @Ralf Roletschek Hello, you can translate the page into your own language yourself. SCP-2000 09:11, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

Where to include the link?
[edit]Can someone tell me where the new link should go? I imagine that it is probably some page in the Mediawiki domain, but I would need to know the name of that page. Looking at the source code for pages in the English Wikipedia tells me that it should be something with the word "footer" in it, but still no luck, I could not find any such page.
By the way, my home wiki is the Portuguese Wiktionary (pt.wikt), if that is important.
Thanks for any help with this.
