Removing Brahmin entries
Hello. I notice that you removed all my entries on the article List of Brahmins. Please note that many of these entries are sons, daughters and relatives of peoples who were already on this page. Also, many of these artists are confirmed as Brahmins on their Wikipedia page, or on their parents's wikipedia page (such as Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Rekha, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Anupam Kher, etc. Not to mention that many family names are self-explanatory. People whose last names are Mukherjee, Chaterjee, Raina, Bhachatariya, Kulkarni, Pandit, Iyer, Iyengar, etc.. are automatically considered as Brahmin. Please add the mention _citation needed_ instead of plain removal. Many thanks. Bigdoul (talk) 19:04, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Bigdoul: Not a comment on your additions but please note that we only include the social group of individuals if they self-identify as such. In other words, the son or daughter of a Brahmin is not automatically assumed to be a Brahmin (they might, for example, not to want to be identified in that way). - @Bigdoul: We follow WP:CASTEID (self-identification), no exceptions. What if the living relatives of a dead person doesn't identify with the caste? Besides you haven't inlcuded references for the dead ones either. I added back Anupam Kher with an interview source were he mentions his Kashmiri Pandit heritage. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:35, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
Malicious account
I have noticed that you have reverted several disruptive edits made by this editor, and have recently gave warning with the account in question. I would like to highlight that the edit linked above is not merely a violation of the common name policy—it constitutes a serious case of vandalism. The user changed the name of one of India’s major football clubs, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, to Mohun Bagan Sonagachi Giant, deliberately referencing Sonagachi, a well-known red-light district in Kolkata. This edit is clearly disparaging, offensive, and intended to defame.
Additionally, the behavior and editing pattern of this account bear a strong resemblance to that of Chincong999, a previously blocked user who was blocked for reasons including vandalism, violation of the username policy, and insulting other editors in edit summaries. Given the nature and intent of the edits, I believe this account should be reported promptly. Chanchaldm2 (talk) 12:26, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Chanchaldm2: I reverted them for violating WP:COMMONNAME. Didn't notice the exact kind of vandalism, so thanks for the info. As for the SPI, could you link diffs here. Thanks. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:38, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
